02How to approach the Ninja 500

The Ninja 500 has no damping clickers. That isn't a dead end — it means your setup levers are geometry, springs and pressure, and they're powerful ones.

  • Preload and ride height are your primary tools. Setting sag correctly is not a preliminary step on this bike, it is the setup.

03Where to start — the baseline

Whatever the Ninja 500 offers, the order of operations is always the same. Start from the OEM clicker baseline (count every adjuster from fully closed), set tyre pressures, then set sag before you touch a single damping clicker.

Middleweight supersports are usually sprung close to right for an average rider, so the standard window is a genuinely good starting point.

04What you can't tune on the Ninja 500

Knowing where the Ninja 500stops adjusting saves more time than any clicker chart. These are the fixes this bike can’t make with a screwdriver — and what to reach for instead:

  • No front damping adjustment — fork dive and front-end harshness have to be managed with preload, fork height, spring rate and tyre pressure.
